Large Hopi Seed Jar by Nampeyo with Beetle Design, c.1905

Description

Nampeyo (1856-1942) made this large polychrome seed jar around 1905. The jar features her beetle design, with an eagle tail feather drop to the right of the design, on both sides. We have seen this beetle design on several of her pieces, including the smaller jar this jar is pictured with. This large jar fired well, with the full variation in tonality from ivory to burnt orange. The jar measures 6” height and 11” diameter, and is in excellent, original condition.
