Description
A large masterpiece by Hopi potter Nyla Sahmie, this elegant jar is decorated with an iconic eagle tail design, one of many motifs inherited from the Sikyatki Revival movement of the artist’s ancestor Nampeyo (1858-1952). This piece is inspired by an early Revival piece by Nampeyo, c.1900. This jar is large and impressive, measuring 15 1/2″ in diameter by 12″ high. It was traditionally made and fired out of doors at the artist’s studio in Polacca, Arizona. A significant piece of pottery by a Native American master potter.
