Description
This Hopi polychrome open bowl by Nampeyo is decorated on the interior with a central avian composition, exemplifying the theme of abstracted birds, in which Nampeyo often worked. The design is framed by a bold black interior band that separates the painted field from the polished yellow slip. The bowl’s broad, shallow form and restrained exterior place emphasis on the interior painted design, consistent with early 20th-century Hopi bowls.
This piece measures 2 ¼” high by 8 ¼” in diameter and is in original condition.
