Description
Nampeyo perfected her red slip between 1895 and 1905. The orange slip here was used during that period. The swirled bird design in the middle of the bowl is an early motif for her, as is the design at the top of four clouds consisting of three stacked squares. This is an excellent example of her classic Sikyatki Revival style. The slip shows some craquelure, and the piece is in excellent condition without wear. The bowl measures 2” height and 6 ¼” diameter, and is accompanied by a letter of attribution and a custom stand. A great addition to any collection of Hopi pottery.
