Description
This Polacca polychrome bowl dates to 1875. The piece well represents traditional Hopi pottery-making before Nampeyo’s Sikyatki Revival. The inside of the bowl is decorated with a red star-flower, a traditional Walpi or Zuni design. The deep bowl with straight sides is an effective vessel for food. Later, the rims on Hopi pottery bowls become flattened and rolled in to better showcase the designs on the inside.
The bowl measures 3 1/2″ height and 6 3/4″ diameter and is in excellent, original condition.
