Description
A nice traditional Hopi bowl by contemporary master potter Nyla Sahmie. This piece is a study of similar 19th century helmet stew bowls by the artist’s ancestor Nampeyo (1858-1942). See images in Steve Elmore’s award-winning book In Search of Nampeyo. This piece measures 4″ high by 9 1/8″ in diameter and was handmade and pit fired traditionally. Excellent line work by a master potter.
