Description
This Hopi polychrome bowl by the Nampeyo family is decorated with a continuous spiral layout composed of segmented avian elements. The interior design is framed by a dark rim band that separates the painted field from the polished red slip exterior. The bowl’s shallow, open profile and restrained exterior surface treatment are consistent with early 20th-century Hopi display forms developed from prehistoric Sikyatki bowl prototypes.
This bowl measures 3 ½” in height by 12” in diameter and is in excellent condition. Unsigned, the bowl is attributed to Fannie Nampeyo.
