Description
This black and white fine line canteen was made by Lucy Lewis, one of four lauded “Matriarchs of Acoma Pottery.” This piece dates to the 1930s. In addition to Lucy’s characteristic design elements, it is labeled “Lucy Lewis” in graphite by a former collector. Lewis and other Acoma potters did not begin to regularly sign their work until the 1950s. Overall this piece is in excellent condition, measuring 7″ wide by 7 1/2″ high. A museum-worthy piece, it would be a superb addition to any collection of Acoma or Pueblo pottery.
