Description
This small jar was precisely molded by Jean Sahmie Nampeyo before her death in 2024. Jean gifted this and other ceramics to her sister Nyla to complete. Nyla recently painted this magnificent piece with abstract Sikyatki bird designs and traditionally pit fired it outdoors in Polacca, Arizona. This Limited-Edition series by Jean and Nyla represent the transgenerational transmission of craft amongst the Hopi women.
This piece measures 2 ¼” high by 6” in diameter and was fired in January, 2026. This limited-edition piece is signed by Nyla who added Jean’s glyph in memory of her sister.
