Description
This carved redware melon bowl is an excellent example of the work of Santa Clara Pueblo potter Angela Baca (1927 – 2014). This piece is hand coiled from Native clay and pit fired in the traditionally and is clearly signed by the artist on the bottom in wet clay. Its high polish surface and minimal form gives this piece an aesthetic which bridges the divide between modern and traditional. It measures 3 3/4″ high by 5 1/4″ in diameter and is in excellent original condition. An excellent piece of Native American artwork and a highly recommended addition to any collection of Pueblo pottery.
