Description
An impressive piece by Hopi-Tewa master potter Vernida Polacca Nampeyo, this large bowl features the Pahlik Mana kachina design, one of many designs the artist inherited from her ancestor Nampeyo (1858-1952). This piece measures 15″ in diameter by 4 1/2″ high and is fired traditionally. It is clearly signed by the artist. Vernida learned the art of traditional pottery directly from her grandmother Fannie Nampeyo. This piece is made in the Sikyatki Revival style introduced by Nampeyo and carries on a centuries-old tradition of pottery at Hopi. A fantastic piece of pottery by a Hopi master artist.
