Description

A masterful example of the Sikyatki Revival art movement, this Hopi jar is the mature work of the great Hopi-Tewa ceramicist Nampeyo (1858-1942). The striking abstracted black and white feather motif is a variation on the iconic migration pattern which has become a hallmark of five generations of Nampeyo family potters. The precision of this inspired design and the black, white and red palette clearly date this piece to Nampeyo’s mature period post-1900. In these pivotal years, Nampeyo’s work had a profound impact on the emergence of modernism in America.

This piece measures 4” high by 7 ½” diameter and is in excellent original condition. An exceptional piece by an important Native American modernist at an unbeatable price. Order today!
