Description
This charming seed jar by Nampeyo (1856-1942) dates to her mature period, about 1910. Although slightly overfired, her classic seed jar form is well-molded, with a unique, original abstract design. The design uses familiar avian elements to frame the mouth of the jar, and the design is very symmetrical and successful. A label on the bottom of the jar reads: “Hopi Bowl circa 1910-1920’s” with an old inventory number. The jar measures 2 1/2″ height and 6 3/4″ diameter, and is in excellent original condition.
