Description

This white slip jar is painted with an early eagle tail design with spiraling talons. This jar was pit fired traditionally, as evidenced by the cloud markings, by Nampeyo around 1890, early in her white slip period, before the Sikyatki Revival. There are similar pieces in the Smithsonian and Peabody Collection from the same period. This design developed into a major hallmark for the Nampeyo family.

This piece measures 5” in height by 6” in diameter and is in excellent condition.
