Description

A Hopi black on red bowl by Freida Poleahla in excellent condition and signed clearly on the base. Red slipped pieces are scarce after 1910. This large bowl was made for mixing piki, a traditional Hopi bread made of cornmeal. It measures 11 1/4″ in diameter. Freida’s daughter Coleen Poleahla lives at First Mesa today and continues to make pottery.
