Zia Bird Jar by Harviana Pino Toribio (1904-1949)

This excellent 4-paneled Zia jar features two birds, and two flowers, elegantly framed by kiva step designs and rainbows. The off-white slip, skilled painting, and the fine symmetry make this piece an excellent addition of historic Pueblo pottery to any collection.

Harviana Pino Toribio (1904–1949), known as Sr’audyuwi’, was a Zia Pueblo potter active from the 1910s through 1948. She produced a range of forms including polychrome ollas, jars, bowls, tiles, and miniature adobe houses. The daughter of Tomas Pino and Martina Galvan Pino, she married Frank Toribio in 1925, with whom she had two children, Felecita and Elsie Toribio.

This piece measures 11” in height by 11 ½” in diameter and is in good condition with minor scuffing.
